OGLETHORPE POWER ASSOCIATE NAMED GEORGIA DIVISION PRESIDENT, IAAP
ATLANTA, GA (June 18, 2008) -- Demetrice M. Clayton CPS/CAP of Atlanta, a senior executive staff assistant at Tucker, Ga.-based Oglethorpe Power Corporation, has been elected Georgia Division president of the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP). Ms. Clayton was sworn in on June 7 at the IAAP Annual Meeting in Norcross, Ga. She previously served as president-elect and vice president of the organization and, before that, as secretary and treasurer.
“I’m extremely excited about the opportunity to lead such an amazing organization.” she said. “I’m also very appreciative of Oglethorpe Power for being so supportive of my participation.”
A native of Donaldsonville, La. and a 1983 graduate of Donaldsonville High School, she has been a member of the IAAP since 1995 and has served in several official capacities, including chartering president, at her local IAAP chapter (Cherokee Rose).
Ms. Clayton is a former president of the National Association of Black Administrative Professionals, Atlanta Chapter.
She received a BS degree in Office Administration from Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, La. For the past eight years she has worked as an adjunct instructor at the DeKalb Technical College’s Clarkston campus and also serves on the college’s Business and Office Technology Advisory Board. She also serves on the Advisory Board for the Atlanta location of Argosy University.
Ms. Clayton and her husband Dwain make their home in Fulton County and are active members of the Greater Fair Hill Baptist Church where she serves as Bible Institute registrar.
The International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) is the premier organization for administrative professionals. It is a not-for-profit professional association with approximately 40,000 members and affiliates and nearly 600 chapters worldwide. IAAP works in partnership with employers to promote professional excellence.
